About the Product
-
What is Tabiiy made of?
Tabiiy's solid bar cleanser is made with our signature blend of responsibly sourced oils. It's detergent-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free and all natural — nothing harsh, nothing unnecessary. Just a clean, simple formula that works.
-
Is Tabiiy vegan?
Yes. Every Tabiiy product is 100% plant-based and contains no animal-derived ingredients.
-
Is Tabiiy tested on animals?
Never. Tabiiy is proudly cruelty-free.
-
Is Tabiiy antibacterial?
Tabiiy is formulated to thoroughly remove makeup, skin oils, dead skin cells, and the bacteria that builds up inside brush bristles and sponge pores. While we don't add synthetic antibacterial agents like triclosan — which the FDA has noted are no more effective than regular soap and water, and may cause harm — our cleanser's deep-cleaning action effectively clears the buildup that allows bacteria to thrive in the first place. Clean brushes are safe brushes.
-
Is Tabiiy environmentally friendly?
We do our best. Tabiiy uses recyclable packaging, and our refillable bar system means far less plastic waste than liquid cleansers in single-use bottles. Our ingredients are responsibly sourced, and we're always looking at ways to reduce our footprint further. The refill bar option exists specifically for this reason — buy the case once, refill instead of replacing.
-
Can I use Tabiiy if I have sensitive skin?
Yes, absolutely. Since Tabiiy uses an oil base rather than harsh detergents, it's genuinely gentle — on your brushes and on your hands. It was actually formulated with sensitive skin in mind from the very beginning. If you have a known allergy to coconut oil, palm oil, or olive oils, check with your doctor first.
-
Does Tabiiy work on both natural and synthetic brushes?
Yes. Tabiiy is safe and effective on all brush types — natural hair brushes (squirrel, sable, goat), synthetic fiber brushes, and silicone applicators. The conditioning oils in the formula are especially beneficial for natural hair bristles, helping them stay soft and shaped wash after wash.
-
Can I use Tabiiy on beauty blenders and makeup sponges?
Yes. Tabiiy was designed for both brushes and sponges. Wet your sponge, swirl it on the bar, and work it against the silicone scrubbing pad under running water. For sponges that are heavily stained, a second swirl may help — but most come clean in one go.
How to Use
-
How do I use Tabiiy? (Step by step)
It couldn't be simpler:
-
- Wet your brush or sponge under running water
- Swirl the brush on the Tabiiy bar to load the cleanser
- Rub the bristles across the silicone scrubbing pad in circular motions under running water
- Rinse until the water runs clear
- Gently reshape bristles and lay flat or hang upside down to dry
That's it — no soaking, no second application needed in most cases. Watch it in action here.
-
Do I need the silicone scrubbing pad, or can I just use my hands?
The silicone scrubbing pad speeds things up significantly by creating friction that loosens pigment and buildup from deep within the bristles. You can use your palm in a pinch, but the pad is what makes the "one-swirl clean" possible. It comes included with your first purchase — and it lasts a very long time.
-
How long does it take to clean a brush or sponge?
Approximately 30 seconds per brush. If you're a professional makeup artist with 100 brushes to clean, that's roughly 50 minutes total — compared to the 2–3 hours most other methods take for the same number. See it in action in this video.
-
How should I dry my brushes after cleaning?
Lay brushes flat on a clean towel, or hang them upside down using a brush drying rack. Never stand wet brushes upright in a cup — water will seep into the ferrule (the metal band), loosen the glue, and cause shedding over time. Brushes are typically dry within a few hours, depending on density.
Brush Hygiene
-
What is deep cleaning? How often should I deep clean my brushes?
Deep cleaning means removing not just surface pigment, but also the skin oils, dead skin cells, and bacteria that build up inside bristles and sponge pores over time. Spray-on "quick-dry" sanitizers don't do this — they disinfect the surface while leaving the residue inside, which can cause breakouts, styes, and other skin reactions.
Here's a simple guide by usage:
- Professional makeup artists: Deep clean after every client, no exceptions. Brushes used on one person should never touch another without a full wash.
- Daily makeup wearers: At least twice per week. If you're experiencing breakouts, increase frequency — your brushes may be reintroducing bacteria to your skin daily.
- Occasional makeup users (1–2x per week): Once per week minimum.
Tip: We recommend keeping a backup set of brushes so you always have a clean, dry set ready while the other set dries.

How is Tabiiy different from other brush cleansers?
Most brush cleansers fall into one of two categories — and both have problems.
-
-
Liquid soaps (hand soap, shampoo, dish soap): These often require multiple washes to fully remove pigment, don't penetrate deep into bristles, and some formulas are harsh enough to degrade brush bristles over time.
- Spray-on "quick clean" products: These sanitize the surface but don't actually deep clean. They leave makeup residue, oils, and dead skin cells trapped inside — which is exactly what causes breakouts and styes. Some also contain harsh solvents that damage brushes with regular use.
-

Tabiiy uses an oil-based bar formula that lifts and removes pigment, oils, and buildup from the first contact — not after three or four passes. And because it conditions while it cleans, your brushes come out softer and last longer. One bar. One swirl. Done.
-
Will Tabiiy wear out my brushes?
The opposite, actually. The oil base in Tabiiy conditions bristles with every wash, helping them stay soft, flexible, and shaped over time. Brushes cleaned regularly with Tabiiy outlast brushes cleaned with harsh detergents or soaps — which is especially important if you've invested in quality brushes.

-
What are the refill bars and how do they work?
When your original Tabiiy bar runs down, simply purchase a refill bar — it fits directly into the same case and silicone scrubbing pad you already have. No need to buy the full kit again. It's also the more eco-friendly choice: less packaging, less waste.
-
How long does one bar last?
That depends on how frequently you use it and how many brushes you're cleaning. A professional makeup artist cleaning large brush sets daily can expect a full-size bar to last 4–6 weeks. For personal daily use, most customers find a bar lasts 3-4 months.
-
Where is Tabiiy made?
Tabiiy is formulated and made in the United States, out of Houston, Texas — created by a Houston-based professional makeup artist and founder.
